First off I'd be ashamed to show my face on this special. Grown ass women.. I know the stats are true and yes most black men don't see the urgency in getting married at a young age. And yes more black men don't have college degrees etc... but seriously...listening to these women is a total SMH experience. First, the old bish listing one of her standards as requiring a dude over 6ft 5 inches. Bish you 34 years old seriously that's a standard you want to highlight on this special? Offcourse now it's been lowered to about 6ft 1inch or maybe eye level. What about the lady who had the great convo with the guy but the guy didn't ask for her number? Is there something the fuk wrong with your voice all of a sudden to ask for his? WTF? Another stand out was the other woman saying well even if all the standards are met there still has to be chemistry and attraction...[translation] that one unexplainable standard that she just has to feel in the pit of her stomach. Seriously those are the "standards" they're lowering? These women really need to reprioritize and come out of this fantasy world they are living in. Lets not forget the theme song now is "Single Ladies?" I can only assume old lady #4235 idolizes the singer's relationship. Does she realize that song is by a woman [with no high school diploma] who is married after a 7 year relationship to a man [with no high school diploma] old enough to be her father with the reputation of sleeping with every woman he's encountered and by most standards not the most attractive....Would they consider that "lowering their standards" or does the money, trips, and fame that he has now trump whatever standard he probably would not have met 15 years ago when he was their age? Basically I can bet money that if a guy dropped out of high school and was less than 6ft however was rich due to some great investment he made that would meet their standards right? Is "high standards" really the new term for "gold digging." **sings** back then they didn't know me, now i'm rich they all on me

Furthermore, what happens if the man with their standards all of a sudden doesn't meet it anymore (ie legs get cutt off and now they are 4ft 3 inches or can't find a job or pay the bills even though he has that doctorate degree)? Divorce? These titles, finances etc can and might go away. Then you are stuck with the person. What that person can and will do for their family in challenging times. What good is a man that meet these standards of a 6 figure salary at 6ft 5inches that wants to marry you at 30 when he'd rather commit suicide if he lost his job and couldn't find work..that meets his standards; as oppose to that college dropout dude at 5ft 7 inches who's worked all his life with a steady income and believes there is nothing too low for him to do in order to make sure his family is taken care off in trying times? No this is not a promotion of half assed uneducated short men. No I'm not saying a degree and attraction is not important. I'm saying character is more important. Also, it's one thing to have standards but these old bishes don't know wtf "standards" should be. More importantly I don't think in their last few primable years, these women would know a good man for them if he was serving them the wine they were sipping on.

Honestly, if I were a black man I probably would only be open to 2% of the black female population to marry. At the end of the day women in general need to know that when it comes to "love" your education and titles isn't what makes you a "better" candidate. It truly is the great equalizer. It doesn't make you a more viable candidate than the hot chick down the block with the banging laid back personality. Besides, I find more black women took the feminist movement more seriously than it's founders (shrugs). and sidebar...the majority of you and oprah have very little in common. Maybe they should have spent more time perfecting a personality and some common sense as oppose to reading books all day. Isn't it exhausting to try to dominate every aspect of your life? I know I'll get a lot of flack for this but I think any black woman not in the position personally that they want to be in is majority their own fault and noone else's. Stay in your dream land while women like Alicia Keys and Britney Spears take your man.

P.S And any woman over 25 blasting "single ladies" in their car is just pathetic...especially if unmarried and doing so.

BALOON BOY'S PARENTS GET PUNISHMENT

The parents who carried out the balloon boy hoax were sentenced to jail Wednesday and given strict probation conditions that forbid them from earning any money from the spectacle for four years.


Richard Heene was sentenced to 90 days in jail, including 60 days of work release that will let him pursue his job as a construction contractor while serving his time. His wife, Mayumi, was sentenced to 20 days in jail.

The numbers for this weeks chart are in from HitsDoubleDaily, which see Alicia Keys exceeding sales expectations with her fourth album The Element of Freedom selling 405k to land at #2 on the Billboard 200.

However the high numbers weren’t good enough to beat Billboard’s baddest bitch Susan Boyle who sold another 659k of her debut I Dreamed a Dream, bringing her US total album sales to 2.4 million in only four weeks.

The Element of Freedom’s failure to miss the #1 position on the charts makes it’s Alicia’s first album to do so, with her MTV Unplugged album even managing to accomplish the feat back in 2005. Alicia is now even with Britney Spears for the most consecutive #1 albums since debut, both with four each.

Shane Sparks posted bail last night and now that he's out of jail, his lawyer says he is ready to fight what he calls "extortion, Hollywood style."  Sparks, a judge on the MTV show "America's Best Dance Crew," was arrested on Friday and charged with eight counts of child molestation. But his attorney, Steve Meister, tells TMZ the whole thing "stinks to high heaven" since Sparks' accuser waited 15 years (until Sparks became famous) before she came forward. Meister says the charges "are completely without merit" and that Sparks "knows he is innocent and will fight to clear his name."

RIP ACTRESS BRITTANY MURPHY

Brittany Murphy died over the weekend after she went into full cardiac arrest and could not be revived, multiple sources tell TMZ.


She was 32.  The Los Angeles City Fire Department tells TMZ they received a call to a home in Los Angeles that is listed as belonging to her husband, Simon Monjack.  Murphy was taken to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center where she was pronounced dead on arrival.

Murphy starred in such films as "Clueless," "8 Mile," and "Don't Say a Word."

CIARA AND 50 CENT HEADLINE PEACE FESTIVAL IN NIGERIA WITH TPAIN

Reflecting the mood of the nation with President Umaru Musa Yar'Adua, the architect of amnesty in the Niger Delta, recuperating in a Saudi Arabia hospital, the THISDAY Music Festival of Peace has been scaled down.

Ciara, the American artiste, arrived yesterday to join 50 Cents, T Pain and Nigeria's international artistes for the festival. It will kick off today in Benin at 2pm and end at 8pm, while the Abuja concert will hold from 8pm till midnight. Tomorrow, the festival will hold simultaneously from 11pm to 5pm in Warri, Delta State, and Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.

The grand finale will hold all day on Sunday in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, and Port Harcourt, Rivers State. Entrance is free but VIPs are strictly by invitation.

In other Ciara news, the family and pastor of a 13 year old cancer victim recently posted a video of their daughter lipping her favorite singer.  Laurren Smith battled Osteosarcoma cancer (a form of bone cancer) for over two years passed away on December 4th, 2009.

Chris Brown's rant that U.S. music retailers are boycotting his new album "Grafitti," appears to be unfounded. Brown took to his Twitter account -- which is now inactive -- over the weekend to complain about the fulfillment and display of his album in a series of posts.

"im tired of this sh*t. major stores r blackballing my cd. not stockin the shelves and lying to costumers. what the f**k do i gotta do... ... yeah i said it and i aint retracting shit im not biting my tongue about shit else... the industry can kiss my ass," read messages posted.

He also noted specifically that he "JUST WAS AT WALMART IN Wallingford CT,844 north colony.. the didnt even have my album in the back... not on shelves, saw for myself."

A survey and store visits find that Wal-Mart, Best Buy, Trans World, Newbury Comics are all carrying the Brown record and sources say that his album received widespread distribution and promotion by his label, Jive Records, and his distributor, Sony Music Entertainment. Jive shipped over 400,000 units of "Graffiti," and also had it positioned in prime stores space at all key accounts, according to sources. In fact, sources suggest that Jive may have overshipped his record, as sales are slow.

'Overstocked'

"Not only am I carrying it, I am over carrying it, because it isn't selling," says the head of purchasing at one large chain. "I wish I could return it." He says the album's first week sales only reached 40% of expectations. At 27-unit Newbury Comics, Carl Mello head of purchasing, echoes that sentiment. "We have it; it's not selling much."

He says the chain never even considered boycotting Brown -- an accusation leveled by the artist on Twitter. Brown pleaded guilty to charges in connection with his attack of former girlfriend Rihanna in February, just before the Grammy Awards show. "We never considered not bringing it in," Mello says. "If we stopped bringing in records from every unsavory character that puts out an album, there would be tumbleweed floating around our stores."

When ordering the record, Mello says he took into account Brown's altercation with Rihanna from a sales perspective, only. After saying, "Let's see what has happened with his sales since the incident," Mello reports that "Exclusive," which was issued in November 2007, sold 11 copies chainwide in October 2008, 8 copies in November, 5 units un January, 4 in February, 2 in March, and 0 copies in April, May and June. "From July until now, we have sold 3 copies," Mello adds. "When you see an artist is going to release a new album and then you go back and see these kind of sales, alarm bells go off. You don't feel over confident about bringing in a lot of records."

Nevertheless, "we brought in the new album because you know you are going to sell some," Mello says. "We let the consumer vote on it."

And so far, consumers aren't flocking to stores to vote on behalf of Brown. Sources project that Brown sold about 100,000 units last week, well below the 150,000-175,000 units he was expected to sell. Mello says that the album is probably about the No. 40 best-selling title at the chain.

Even Wal-Mart -- which was singled out by Brown on Twitter as one of the so-called merchants boycotting his record because the Wallingford, Conn., store didn't have it in stock -- says they are carrying the Brown album. "We are surprised at the comments on Twitter, since all Walmart stores carried the CD since its release, including the Wallingford store mentioned in the post. This store had in fact sold through their copies over the weekend. The majority of our stores are showing today they have copies on hand. Likewise Billboard found plenty of Brown in stock at Best Buy in Union Square and on Broadway by Houston Street, in Manhattan, as well as at the J&R Music World superstore in downtown Manhattan. Jive declined to comment.

1. Was there a disconnect with those sympathetic to a victim of domestic violence? Those adult women who were disgusted by what Chris Brown did not care too much for her regardless.

2. Are the teenage girls blaming her for 'trying to ruin his career' and therefore not supporting her? Something I've heard continuosly.

3. Is the overlysexed bad girl image coming off as a fraud? For us that's pretty much it. This era comes off as a chick trying to act like something she's not. You can't can beat up and sing about how :"hard" you are. Just not believable. This is more Gaga impressions than the Rihanna we grew to love (even with the edge that Good Girl Gone Bad brought). This is just trash.

4. This is just a slow start, she's never done big numbers early. Well first, this is the second week and she's never dropped this far down before. We suspect it has to do with rumors of Def Jam buying copies of the album to give a good first week impression (as they are rumored to always do). As a result the majority of their artist take a nose dive in the subsequent weeks, reflecting the lack of interest that would have been reflected had they not bought albums. Second, this album did not get the promo of her last 3 albums. After her last album Rihanna entered the league of those expected to recoup the major dollars put out in promo, hence that argument is no longer valid. Not to mention the loss in selling the album for 99 cent. Also, the fact that she has no longstanding top 10 singles on the hot 100 suggests that there is no reviving this album. The only potential I see is the latest single and that was made for urban. In other words, it's a wrap for this era. Maybe they will do the usual 150 rereleases with new songs to bring back some interest.

5. Does the album just suck? At the end of the day isn't that what its all about. That American Idol dude has gotten a lot of flack yet he's still in the top 5 2nd week in a row. Susan Boyle with all her psycho antics before even releasing a record has sold 1 million copies in the US in 2 weeks with no video. Finally, unlike her previous efforts, not even the europeans are feeling this album. No #1s (or top 5) in any country to date.

YouTube and Universal Music launched has launched a new music video internet site called VEVO. It’ll include content from some of the world’s largest record labels, including EMI, Universal and Sony Music. And the amount of views per video will go towards the artists placement on the Billboard charts.

To get VEVO off the ground in style, the music labels and Google hosted a star studed event including Lady Gaga, John Mayer, Peter Wentz, Mariah Carey, Adam Lambert, Ciara, Justin Timberlake, 50 Cent, Sheryl Crow, Rihanna, Taylor Swift and more. 50 Cent is said to have invested in the venture as well (always making money).
