Last I heard, Ci said this was going straight to DVD. Now the producers of the film have a different story. Per film producer:
"It was always our strategy to release the film along with the release of a new Ciara album so that we could maximize exposure for the film. Ciara changed management, and her CD release was delayed. The CD is coming out in May or June, and we will release the movie in August or September."
"Additionally," he added, "since we were delayed, we decided to go back and shoot additional scenes in New York that we feel would give the movie more authenticity as well as pay homage to the original stage play."
